The Ames Romero House is a Catholic Worker community and hospitality home for those seeking assistance. We currently offer this assistance in the afternoons to our guests who are in need of food, fellowship, and other amenities like showers and laundry. Our founding principles include the practice of solidarity with the impoverished as we serve and love them through hospitality and community.
During the summer months, we especially need volunteers willing to spend an hour or two in the afternoons serving and, ultimately, being served as one can see Jesus in every person that walks through our doors.
If you have prior afternoon commitments, please consider going to our website to learn other ways you can join our mission and serve the overlooked in Ames.
Current parishioners serving on the Ames Romero House board:
Matt Mitchell, Glenn Sibbel, Susan Hurd, Jim Kurtenbach, Mary Jo Phiefer Wulf, and Mark Hanson
