2024-2025 Faith FormationIn an effort to continue building faith formation collaboration among both Ames parishes, STA and STC registration for the upcoming faith formation year has been streamlined into one system. Volunteer discounts are available!

Children in grades one through five attend classroom sessions on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 7:15 PM. Our curriculum is Word of Life published by The Augustine Institute and Ignatius Press. Word of Life uses the following Four Golden Catechetical Threads throughout all grade levels. See Grade Level Overview below for grade-specific information.
- Salvation History: Revealing God’s presence and plan throughout history and our place in that plan.
- Christian Anthropology: The true human story that answers the questions about our real identity, why we are here, and who are we called to be.
- Heroic Virtue & Character Formation: By cooperating with God’s grace and the supernatural virtues, we find our true dignity and purpose and are able to live with heroic virtue and character.
- Learning through Discipleship: Catechesis that shows why the faith matters and nurtures a deepening integration of the faith in daily life through Christian discipleship.

Students must be 3 years old by September 15 of the current school year to enroll in STA's Elementary Faith Formation. PreKindergarten and Kindergarten students participate in our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program. Please refer to that page for more information.

Salvation History: God's Presence in the Sacraments
Preparation for the celebrations of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is the focus of second grade. Emphasis is placed upon the need for a savior, God's loving plan to save us, God's plan is fullfiled through Jesus, Jesus saves us from our sins, and Jesus gives Himself to us in the Eucharist.
