27-28th (Saturday/Sunday): Service trip to Cedar Rapids
- Please arrive at STA prior to departure at: Saturday, 8:15am
- Departing: Saturday, 8:30am
- Returning: Sunday, 3:00pm
- Initial destination: La Salle Middle School, Cedar Rapids (to obtain keys)
- Service destination: St. Vincent DePaul Society (SVDP), Cedar Rapids
Our service will be helping set up SVDP store, which was ravaged during the June floods. They lost their food bank, clothing, most of their furniture, and had flood damage.
Most likely we will be sorting clothes and moving furniture.
Saturday, 12noon - 4:00pm
- Flood damage review tour of harder hit areas after departing SVDP to help us understand the magnitude of the situation.
- Afterwards, some fun and fellowship will be arranged...a movie, mini-golf, bowling, or such.
- Overnight: La Salle Middle School, Cedar Rapids
- Mass at St. Wenceslaus: Sunday, 10:30am
(St. Wenceslaus was one of the sites of our prior, August service trip. We had also previously assisted SVDP and helped clean out a local home.)
- Lunch
- Back to Ames...we will call parents to let them know when we leave.
